Bio

I am Nicolette Hashey, a seventeen year old first year at the University of Maine, in the New Media Program. I live in Hermon, Maine, a small town most have never heard of. I love discovering new ways to incorporate technology into my daily life, and I have a passion for helping others. On the weekend I’m usually DJing at a wedding or entertaining at a children’s birthday party. In the past, I have worked as a dance instructor at my local dance school and I’ve organized several software workshops for students and faculty at Hermon High School. Further integration of technology in the classroom is a cause that I am very passionate about, and I hope to bring aspects of that into my future profession.

Creative Statement

The inspiration for my work with k-12 schools in further integration of technology is based on my own experience matriculating through the k-12 school system. I saw numerous opportunities for students and faculty to utilize technology, but sadly, without the necessary resources the chances came and went without a second thought. I hope to change that. I am currently exploring the world of graphic design, and trying to learn a bit of coding. I am very interested in emerging technologies that bring the digital world into the physical world, enabling much more seamless integration into our daily lives.
